The former Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Ethnologie (ZfE) was first published in 1869. The older issues not only reflect the ups and downs of German ethnology, but they are also a mirror of international ethnology. In these early days academics such as Franz Boas (19 articles), Bruno Gutmann, Carl Strehlow, Sture Lagercrantz, Leo Frobenius, Carl Meinhof, G\u00fcnter Wagner, Wilhelm E. M\u00fchlmann, Adolf Bastian, Georg Schweinfurt, Rudolf Virchow, Hermann Baumann, Robert H. Lowie, Felix v. Luschan, Paul Radin or Richard Thurnwald have published here.<\/p>\n
The journal is published by two scientific societies: the German Association for Social and Cultural Anthropology (GAA) and the Berlin Society for Anthropology, Ethnology and Prehistory (BGAEU).<\/p>\n
For the GAA, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Alex (T\u00fcbingen) is the editor, for the BGAEU, Dr. Alexis von Poser (Berlin) is the editor. The editorial team consists of experienced academics who work on different regions and theoretical areas of interest. Contributions can be submitted in German and English.<\/p>\n
Since 2020 the Zeitschrift for Ethnologie also has an English name, Journal of Social and Cultural Anthropology (JSCA).<\/p>\n
Members of the GASCA and the BGAEU can purchase the printed edition at a preferential price of EUR 30 (plus shipping) for two issues or a double volume. We mourn the loss of our esteemed colleague Thomas Hylland Eriksen. As a long-standing member of our editorial board, Thomas has always supported us and provided us with advice and assistance in the transformations and redesigns of the ZfE\/JSCA.
