From March 2 to 29, 2026, the German Data Forum (RatSWD) gets elected. The Forum plays a central role in the further development of research data infrastructure in Germany and has a significant influence on the framework conditions, standards, and priorities in our field.

We therefore urge you to participate in this election. In order to participate in the election, you must first register by February 16, 2026: https://www.konsortswd.de/ueber-uns/ratswd/wahl/registrierung/

Eligible voters are researchers with a doctoral degree who work at state-recognized universities or in public, independent scientific research institutes in Germany.

Why is this election particularly important to us?

In previous terms of office, the perspectives and concerns of qualitative research were significantly less present in the RatSWD than those of quantitative research. In view of current developments in research data management, infrastructure funding, and standardization, it is crucial that qualitative approaches, methodological diversity, and appropriate data formats are adequately represented.

Strong representation of our professional community in the RatSWD helps to highlight the specific requirements of qualitative research, support appropriate infrastructure and funding lines, and ensure methodological plurality in the long term.

For this year’s election, the DGSKA and DGEKW are nominating two people, as one female and one male candidate must be nominated: Michael Bollig (main candidate) and Cora Bender.

Now that both professional associations have agreed to support the DGEKW candidate for the 2023 election, we are asking all eligible voters from both professional associations to support our joint main candidate, Michael Bollig.

Every single vote helps to increase the visibility and effectiveness of qualitative research.

We sincerely thank you for your commitment and support.
